Street Food in Portugal

A modern concept that dates back to ancient civilisations

The concept of ‘street food’ is not as recent as most of us assume. In fact, the idea of selling food for consumption on the street dates back to ancient civilisations, with the Egyptians and Greeks selling and consuming fried fish on the street. This custom was adopted by the Roman civilisation and developed over time until we arrived at the concept of food trucks that we know today. If we think about the Portuguese tradition, and although we think the idea of street food was imported, we can find some traditional examples in our history. These include the long-awaited ice-cream van in the summer, the delicious and warm roasted chestnuts in the winter or the festive farturas covered in cinnamon and sugar that we eat whether it’s cold or hot out. The mobility of street food allows you to do something that a restaurant can’t: be wherever your customers are, thus giving you the freedom and ability to adapt to the scenarios that arise.

Street Food & Tuk Tuks

Sell your delicious food in the busiest places

One of the advantages of selling food or drinks on the street is that you can position yourself in high-traffic areas, thereby increasing the exposure of your products and enticing people to buy. However, moving a trailer or van to certain urban areas can be a challenge. Even more mobile solutions, such as bicycles, which solve these issues, come with their drawbacks, for example the exposure of employees and products to the weather. In this sense, e-Tuks are the perfect intermediate solution for these situations. As well as being 100% electric, which means they don’t contribute to air and noise pollution in urban centres, they have a spacious load space that allows configurations for all types of businesses. Whether you sell ice creams, hot drinks, fresh juices or light meals, there’s a solution for you.
